My family has a saying that my children made up during the times we've house hunted. In Wichita for some reason the standard ranch style home has overtaken all other forms of residential architecture. This style of home in our family is now know as "A windows, a door & a garage sticking out". This over-run of architecture style has made it very difficult for Carrie & I to choose a new home community. We both have our unique ideas of what our new home should look like. She's drawn to a traditional four-square type of home. Those with a large front porch. Whereas I've become a fan of modern style dwellings. So much so, that I recently subscribed to Dwell magazine. I've yet to convince the wife that this is the design style we should be working towards. Even if I did, there doesn't seem to be anywhere in Wichita we could build such a home. I'm considering attending the Wichita Area Home Builders seminar for new home builders. I can't wait to pose the question, "Why only build ranch style homes that look so much alike?".
In the last couple days I've sensed a shift happening in my world. Things have started to "happen" at a faster pace than usual. Decisions are being made and deals created. Just recently my wife & I have made an important decision about the future of our family. We hope to achieve this dream by the summer of 2009. We are also starting to see the fruits of our labor pay off. Business deals are starting to pay off. Speaking of pay off, we're also in the best place financially that we've been since getting married. I'm very hopeful and excited about the immediate future.
